Cafes

Longbarn Village

Longbarn Village is on the B4090 near Alcester.

First visit in October 2007 with the Beacon Ferrets. Pleasant cafe with warm indoors & outdoors seating. Had a nice panini with ham and brie with side salad and crisps plus tea for £7. [map]

Tudor Rose Tearooms

The Tudor Rose is a regular destination for the Beacons on the second Thursday of the month. We often run into the Solihull CC there.

Pleasant with reasonabe space and a good menu. Had an large scrambled eggs on toast with salmon, a big chunk of cake & pot of tea for £8.25

Pubs

Black Eagle, Hockley

The Wednesday evening group's favourite pub.

Good route along the Birmingham Main Line canal towards Wolverhampton and down the Soho Loop to Winson Green Prison for a short run on road.

A quiet local with a garden to leave the bikes - if you ask at the bar they'll give you the key to unlock the gate to the garden. Friendly staff and a good range of beer.

Black Eagle, 16 Factory Road, Hockley, B18 5JU

Strawberry Fields, Shirley

Visited with JB on a cold October evening. Pint of Worthington's £2:20. Nice friendly pub, not crowded or noisy. Decor interesting & comfortable.
Good unless you want a range of beers.
