Consultation - 20mph TROs

Be Heard logo

Birmingham City Council is carrying out final Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) consultations on the 20mph areas consulted on last year, before doing the work to implement the 20mph limits. This is a legal requirement for changes to the highways that Birmingham City Council has to carry out as part of the process of changing the speed limits. Push Bikes supports the TRO plans, as we believe that 20mph speed limits are an important part of creating a road environment that is attractive for cycling and walking.

Consultation - Green Routes and Canal Towpath Consultations

Be Heard logo

There are 6 consultations closing on the 29th April 2015 for some canal and green routes to be improved as part of phase 2 of the Birmingham Cycle Revolution. Push Bikes welcomes the improvements that these plans will bring for cycle users, by giving the routes all-weather surfaces and by allowing cycling in some places where it previously was not allowed. Making these small connections is important for building up a connected cycle network across Birmingham.

While Push Bikes does welcome the improvements, we do have some issues with the plans:

The plans for BCR Stage 3 were presented to the BCR Stakeholder group this week.

Main Corridors

High quality "showcase" routes on main corridors with a high degree of segregation from motor vehicles and pedestrians are proposed for BCR3. These will follow the philosophy of road space reallocation presented in Birmingham Connected. At junctions there will either significant schemes, and /or use of quieter parallel routes.
