Comments	I'm writing to you about the consultation on the proposed cycle track along the A34 from Heathfield Road to Perry Barr and Aldridge Road. I have been very impressed by the new cycle tracks alongside the A34 and A38. They provide a continuous dedicated route that feels safe and comfortable to cycle along as well as being fast. We can be proud that Birmingham is setting high standards for cycle infrastructure in the UK. I'm disappointed by the proposed cycle track from Heathfield Road to Aldridge Road. The lack of continuous protected space dedicated to cycles at all the junctions will mean that the route is less convenient and comfortable compared to the two routes finished this year. Using the proposed cycle track would be a lot slower than cycling with the motor traffic on the A34 and some of the shared use sections will create conflict between people walking and people cycling. I want Birmingham to have a cycle network that everyone from 5 to 99 feels comfortable cycling along and which does not give a time penalty over cycling with motor traffic. I want to have protected space for cycles at all major junctions, separate from space for walking, and continuity for cycle tracks across side-road junctions. I do not want a two-tier network where the more confident faster cycle users stay on the roads while other cycle users are relegated to slow and patchy cycle tracks. Please improve the new A34 plans to deliver the same high quality of junction design as the initial A34 and A38 routes have enjoyed.
