A38 Cycle Link to Moseley - And Much More

Hostile Edgbaston
Friday, April 16, 2021 - 23:45

It was back in 2017 that Suzanna Bull was killed by a lorry whilst on her bike at the junction of Edgbaston Road and Pershore Road. Yet here we are in 2021 and the council is still discussing whether something should actually be done about the needless slaughter on roads that have been designed with no reasonable provision for active travel (ie both cycling and walking). The white van that can be seen in the picture stopped on the bike box at this dangerous junction is indicative of the lack of consideration for life and limb.

Up until now the discussion and indeed engineering design has only covered the section between the A38 cycleway and the Rea Valley Route, but now what is being discussed is extending that route as fas as Moseley. Please make sure you have your say by 16th April, calling for cycleways and better facilities for pedestrians.

We've drawn your attention to some specific schemes, but there is much more going on and we would urge you to respond to the consultations that affect areas you know about. Don't let the motoring bullies have their way.
