The council is consulting on improving cycle parking around the city. This scheme is jointly funded from Capital Programme and Birmingham Cycle Revolution (BCR) Department for Transport fund. Approximately 42 locations have been identified within 19 wards. The scheme will deliver parking facilities along BCR Main Corridors of A47 Parkway, Alcester Road, Bristol Street, Lichfield Road, Soho Road and other key routes at additional locations of strong demand. This consultation seeks views on draft plans to improve air quality. The Government’s primary driver for action on air quality is the impact it can have on health and the environment. A cleaner, healthier environment benefits people and the economy.

Birmingham City Council has developed a new Road Safety Strategy with support from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
Giving people the confidence to choose walking and cycling as their preferred way of getting around is vital. The Road Safety Strategy describes our plans to create safer roads, safer people and safer vehicles. Cyclists are identified as one of the key ‘vulnerable road users’ within the strategy, and we are especially keen to hear their views.
