John Bennett, who was a long time cycling campaigner and Push Bikes treasurer, rode 80 miles on his 80th birthday. For his 90th birthday ride on 20 August 2025, he has very sensibly switched to kilometres, but has also organised a fundraiser for Acorns children's hospice.
I am challenging myself to cover 90km on a normal bike as a commemoration of my 90th birthday. I will start at Edgbaston Priory Club [at about 9:00am], head through Moseley, Earlswood, to Packwood House (coffee), then through Hatton, Hampton Lucy, Wellesbourne and back via Stratford on Avon.
I have chosen Acorns for 4 reasons:
- It is local, being based on Birmingham.
- It is relatively small, so every pound really counts.
- It is strapped for cash.
- But mainly because of their dedication to caring for time limited children.
I’ll struggle up every hill but encouraged by any donation for this fantastic cause. Wish me luck !
